A free thirty-minute consultation with Naomi Reyes-Ashford, by video or phone. You will leave knowing whether you should file, which chapter fits, and exactly what it costs. Evenings are available. Nothing is charged and nothing is filed until you decide.
What to have nearby, if you can
None of this is required for the first call. It helps.
- Your last two or three pay stubs, or a rough idea of monthly take-home pay for everyone in the household
- A rough total of what you owe, split into cards and loans, medical, taxes, and anything with a car or house attached
- The most recent letter that scared you: the garnishment notice, the notice of trustee's sale, the summons
- Whether you own a home, and a guess at what it is worth and what is owed on it
- The county you live in, which decides which division hears your case
What happens on the call
Naomi asks what happened and what is at risk this month. She runs your income against the April 2026 California median figures to see whether Chapter 7 is open to you, asks about equity in the house and the car, and tells you which chapter fits and why. Then she quotes the fee, in a number, and confirms it in writing afterward. If she thinks you should not file, she says so and tells you what to do instead.
What happens after
If you decide to go ahead, the case manager sends a secure upload link for documents and a fee agreement to sign electronically. Chapter 7 fees are paid before filing, usually over two to four months; Chapter 13 needs a modest amount up front and the rest goes through the plan. If a garnishment is running or a sale date is close, we talk about what it takes to file within days.
